We want to be making a difference locally and globally and give to others in need. We have several opportunities throughout the year to participate in or give to.
One of our Core Essentials at The Journey is looking beyond ourselves. So we have opportunities to help others and serve by volunteering at The Journey or impacting the community with Networks
In our community, we have provided backpacks & school supplies for kids, donated to local food pantries, purchased and passed out food with food trucks, and done yard work for widows. We also like to partner with local groups like M-TEC, Angel Tree, Community Encompass, Habitat for Humanity, and Love Inc.
We also want to make a difference beyond West Michigan. We've taken trips to Gulfport, MS for hurricane relief and to Verve Church in Las Vegas to help reach people who live and work on the Vegas Strip.
The House of Hope Orphanage in Kenya gives life to children in need by giving them food, clothing, a bed, education, and teaching them to follow Jesus. In the past, we've supplied them with bunk beds, rain tanks, charcoal, chickens and chicken coop, cows, a school classroom, and a kitchen. For Christmas 2010 we bought them a van to transport the kids and Christmas 2011 brought running water to the home. In June 2009 & 2011 we sent a team to serve at the orphanage. Our next trip is scheduled for June 2013. Here's some highlights from our last trip:
