NEXT STEPS WITH GOD

We believe that the God of the universe wants to connect with you. He's waiting for us with open arms. The Bible makes this clear when it says that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to you (James 4:8). If we seek God with all of our heart, we will find Him (Deut. 4:29). Below are some resources that can help you seek God and draw near to Him:

BEGIN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

The Bible tells us that God loves and created each person to be in relationship with Him. We were designed to know God. We can experience Him and His guidance in everyday life. But because everyone sins, that relationship has been ruined and we are separated from God. However, God's love for us is still so great. Jesus came to the earth to take the penalty for our sin, which is death.  Because He died on the cross for our sins and then rose from the dead,  He offers us forgiveness and a relationship with God that can be restored again. For us to begin that relationship, each of us must make a decision to put our faith and trust in Jesus and believe that the forgiveness He offeres brings us back into that relationship with God.  This involves making Jesus the leader of our life and following Him and His ways.

Here is a picture of how you can begin a relationship with God.

If you've begun a relationship with God, pick up a Starting Line Pack at The Journey. Also consider getting baptized as your next step.

BAPTISM

Baptism is an outward expression of an inner change. If you have recently begun a relationship with Jesus, this is a great next step. If you are interested, send an email to find out about the next Baptism informational meeting and view the Baptism Brochure. Want to know more about baptism? Listen to this message.

PRAY

Part of being in a relationship with God is that we can actually talk to Him by praying. God is big enough and powerful enough to listen and hear all of our prayers to Him. He really cares and wants to hear from us. We can ask Him for help, share our life struggles, thank Him, and just talk to Him about our life. We can pray at anytime - in the car, as we walk, somewhere quiet in our home - and He is always ready to listen. Here's some more thoughts on how to pray and connect with God.

READ THE BIBLE

Reading the the Bible can help us know more about God and His ways and how that can bring purpose & meaning to our lives. He has given us His Words in the Bible so that we can know Him better and take steps in our relationship with Him. It's not like reading a textbook for school or a novel for fun. It's about connecting with God. There are some Bible Resources below that can be a help for you no matter where you're at in your relationship with God.
